In Just a Few Hours

In a few hours, about 9 and 1/2 to be exact, we will be graced with the presence of 2010! Now I don't know about you all, but I for one am counting the minutes until the clock strikes midnight!

I'm not saying that 2009 didn't have any happy moments in it. I did meet my wonderful fiance this year. But, 2009 brought many hard times, I lost my Pop and Nanny.

2010 is surely to bring us many wonderful time.

Happy New Year Everyone!!!!

Not Me Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

It was not the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Creatures were stirring,
Heck, maybe even a mouse.
The stockings were not hung by the chimney with care,
Because Santa surely would not stop here.
Avery was not finally sleeping,
All snug in his beds, while visions of toys
Flipped through his head.
Andrew was not working in front of the TV,
With a million part wagon propped on his knee.
Mom did not get in bed around two,
Avery did not sleep the whole night through!
It was not 7 am, when arose such a clatter
I did not spring from the bed to see what was the matter.
I did not find a smiling little boy
Ready to wake up and celebrate Christmas Joy!

Just an Old Towel

Do you ever take in a deep breath and smell something that can take you back to a place in time? Do you ever smell something and it reminds you of something so special?

The other night as I was washing clothes and preparing for our trip to the mountains I saw this old towel in the laundry room. Mind you that my mom has been cleaning out my grandparents house and there is so much of their stuff lying around the house. However, this purple towel caught my eye. Not that I normally pick up towels in the laundry hamper and hold them up to my face, but the old purple towel I did.

I buried my face into in hopes that just for a moment I could smell my grandparents. I wanted just another moment of them feeling so near. I ended up just sniffing the towel for about 5 minutes. I didn't want to put it down, but I knew I had to finish packing for the trip.

On the day that Pop died, I remember just taking deep breaths through my nose as I told him goodbye, I was savoring the smell of him. I did this with Nanny also. I wanted to preserve the smell in my memory so I would also have it.

As we all have been going through Nanny and Pop's belongings, I haven't had any desire to take anything that didn't have a "special" significance to me. Yes, I've taken a few items that were nice, but mainly the only thing I've gotten in a few shirts from their closets. I just wanted something I could bury my face into and know that their love is so close.

We do not remember days, we remember moments.

Avery's 1st Haircut

I took Avery to get his first haircut.

I was so afraid that this would turn out to be like his firth bath.

However much to my surprise, he did great!

My precious angel looks so grown up now!

..."Born to her
Was a perfect son
This war she was fighting
The new mother had won
The prize was hers
To keep for a lifetime
A baby boy
Born to shine?

Is it not amazing how God will turn a situation around and make it wonderful! It's no secret that Avery was a "surprise blessing from God" and Lord, I thank you everyday for knitting him together in my womb! The smiles he brings to my face, the joy he brings to my heart, the tears of happiness that come to my eyes are worth my every sacrifice! I would move Heaven & Earth for my precious Avery for he his my heart and soul!

A woman, when she is in labor, has sorrow because her hour has come; but as soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world. John 16:21

Is it really October?

Avery is walking now. Can I get a WHOOP-WHOOP or some days can I get an “UT-OH”. Mr. Independent has recently made in known that he is too cool to ride in his stroller now. At the mall last night he was everywhere. He wouldn’t ride and didn’t want to be carried. Needless to say, Andrew and I left the mall worn out! I will admit though, as frustrating as it can be when they find their “independence”; they are still so stinkin’ cute! AHEM! Now when he wants something he follows me around with his hand out or when he has something he doesn’t want anymore he follows me around and does the “UH-UH” noise to get my attention so he can hand the item over. Bless him!

I just can’t believe how fast they grow up!

One minute you have this:
And the next you have this:

Crazy! Times goes by too fast!

Anyway, everything else is going good on the home front. I just started a new quarter at school. I’m taking College Algebra, for the second time, so we shall see if it gets easier each time you take it. I’m also in Human Growth and Development. It seems like it will be quite an interesting class.

Hope you all are doing well!

Escapee

Has anyone seen a really cute 11 month old anywhere? He was being held in the cabinet jail cell and now he's gone! He was caught on camera during his escape. This 28 pound male may be headed your way to steel your heart away with his adorable smile!

He was last seen here:

(Disclaimer: This is an exaggerated story. This morning, Avery just so happened to discover that he could climb into the cabinets. What makes the story oh so more cute is that he was wearing his new pajamas that he got from the Alcatraz when my parents were in California last week. On the Pajamas it says: "Rejected from Alcatraz for being too cute.)

We're Back

Well we are back from the beach! It seems like I've been gone forever. We had the best time and didn't want to come home!!! Since there is so so so much to do (i.e. LAUNDRY/UNPACKING)I won't post about our week at the beach tonight. Hopefully I'll get caught up on things around here in a day or so and then I'll tell you all about our trip!
