My First Ever, Homemade Wreath

I must confess, I did not come up with this idea on my own. However, I am pretty doggone proud of myself for successfully completing this wreath, on time, for my mother, on Mother's day. It was a very simple wreath to make considering I didn't go out and pick numerous sticks and bind them together, rather I went down to the local Hobby Lobby and picked out the twig wreath and bought pre cut fabric. The entire project cost me less than $20. If you would like to visit the blog where I got the idea from, go to Our Best Bites and check out what else you can do with these dainty little flowers.

To make your own wreath, you'll need:
Twig wreath (or make your own if you please)
Fabric. I bought precut fabric that was 2 1/2" x 42"
Fabric Glue

Two Kisses for Maddy

I finally finished Two Kisses for Maddy: A memoir of Loss and Love. After following the author's, Matt Logelin, blog for quite some time now, I couldn't wait for the book to hit the bookstore. I've never been one that loved reading, but this book, I honestly couldn't put it down.

I copied the "about" section on the books website to give you a glimpse into the book.

Matt and Liz Logelin were high school sweethearts. After years of long-distance dating, the pair finally settled together in Los Angeles, and they had it all: a perfect marriage, a gorgeous new home, and a baby girl on the way. Liz’s pregnancy was rocky, but they welcomed Madeline, beautiful and healthy, into the world on March 24, 2008.

Just twenty-seven hours later, Liz suffered a pulmonary embolism and died instantly, without ever holding the daughter whose arrival she had so eagerly awaited. Though confronted with devastating grief and the responsibilities of a new and single father, Matt did not surrender to devastation; he chose to keep moving forward– to make a life for Maddy.

In this memoir, Matt shares bittersweet and often humorous anecdotes of his courtship and marriage to Liz; of relying on his newborn daughter for the support that she unknowingly provided; and of the extraordinary online community of strangers who have become his friends. In honoring Liz’s legacy, heartache has become solace.

(Click the picture of the book, it will take you to Amazon.com, where you can buy your very own copy of Two Kisses for Maddy.)

My Mother's Day

Hi! Just checking in here on the ole' blogster. I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day! Mine started off with breakfast cooked for me, Church, a yummy lunch, a precious card and money from my Avery, a nap, and grilling hamburgers for dinner.

Avery was a little cranky for one reason or another this weekend. Poor thing has been battling a cold and ear infections. I guess it would make me cranky too. He's on an antibiotic for his ear and I've tried Benadryl and Zyrtec for the cough. Lordy Gordy do the Benadryl and Zyrtec make him bounce off the walls. Whew! He seems to be on the up for now though. Poor little buddy!

All and all we had a great weekend. Stayed pretty busy and played a lot outside. Picture fanatic me didn't take one single picture on Mother's Day, so I'll leave you with a picture of me and sweet Avery on my very first Mother's Day.
